Personal:
Born in 2004, Chernet began his football journey at age six with Lentezon (Beerse) and Dessel Sport, before being scouted by Dutch professional club Willem II. Over six years in their youth academy, he developed in a professional setting and gained international experience at elite tournaments in Málaga and West Ham United. 

After his youth career, Chernet spent two years in Italy competing in Serie D with Casarano Calcio and Nocerina. This period significantly strengthened him both physically and mentally, while deepening his tactical understanding of the game. His current role at Dessel Sport has added another layer to his game, adapting to Belgium’s more technical style of football.

Chernet has also trialed with top clubs including PSV Eindhoven, Club Brugge, Anderlecht, and LA Galaxy, experiences that broadened his exposure to high-level training environments and different football cultures. In 2017, he was invited to multiple trial camps with the KNVB Dutch National Team U14.

Chernet is known for his strong first touch, composure under pressure, and high-level game awareness. His ability to read the field, anticipate plays, and make smart, reliable decisions makes him a true playmaker. Whether it’s building from the back, combining in tight spaces, or switching the point of attack, Chernet excels in keeping possession and generating forward momentum.
