Djuna Eikelboom

Level
Djuna has been an integral part of AH&BC Amsterdam since the start of her hockey career. Always competing at the highest level, she has consistently excelled in the top selection teams. She played for the U14-1team, U16-1 with whom she competed at the highest level in the Netherlands, and U18-1 with whom she competed during the Euro Hockey League Youth Tournament and placed 2nd. This year, she made her debut with Amsterdam’s Women’s 1st team in the prestigious Hoofdklasse. This team features some of the world’s most elite players, including five gold medalists from the Paris Olympics. Training regularly with these athletes has further refined her skills and prepared her for the demands of elite competition.

Additionally, Djuna grew up in a very athletic family. Her mom played for Amsterdam Women’s 1 in the Hoofdklasse for ten years and her dad played for the Dutch National team while winning gold at the Olympics.

Playing Style
Djuna consistently delivers accurate, well-timed passes, setting up her teammates for success in both offensive and defensive transitions.

She has great stick handling and her forehand, and backhand shots makes her a dual threat in both scoring and playmaking. Djuna’s acute awareness of field positioning and her ability to read the game enable her to make smart, strategic decisions. On top of that, her relentless energy and ability to excel in tight spaces make her a dominant presence in high-pressure situations. She is dynamic both in her movement and with the ball. Moreover, her athletic build complements my playing style, allowing me to perform at a high level.

Academics
Djuna is currently in her senior year of high school (VWO/Gymnasium). She is expecting to graduate in June, 2025. She is really excited to play in the U.S. and wants to compete with her new team starting in the Fall of 2025.
