Emiel started playing volleyball at a young age and quickly stood out because of his height, energy, and natural feel for the game. As an opposite, he is a strong blocker who knows how to use his reach and timing effectively at the net. His powerful float serve is another key strength, allowing him to score valuable points for his team directly from the service line.

What truly sets Emiel apart is his determination to keep improving. He is focused on developing his footwork and explosiveness to become even more dominant on both sides of the court. Emiel has also gained valuable international experience by competing twice in the Summer Cup in Portugal, where he played against strong teams from across Europe and he hopes to participate again in the coming years.

Emiel graduated from high school in the VWO level, the highest level of high school in the Netherlands, in June 2025 and is currently taking a gap year to focus on his development, both as a volleyball player and a person. He hasn’t yet decided what he wants to major in but is excited to explore new opportunities in the U.S. while growing on and off the court.
