About Fenna Rijnbeek

Athletic Background

Fenna began playing water polo at ZVL-1886, the same club she currently represents. She has steadily progressed through dedication and hard work to reach the Eredivisie, the highest league in the Netherlands. In addition to youth competitions, she frequently plays with senior teams, gaining valuable experience against older and more experienced athletes.

She has competed in the club championships for three consecutive years and has gained international exposure through multiple tournaments abroad, including the Next Generation Cup (BIWPA) in Barcelona. Over the past two years, Fenna has made significant strides in her development as a goalkeeper, particularly in high-pressure situations. She is known for stopping penalties and excelling in one-on-one scenarios during games, reflecting her strong reflexes, composure, and game awareness.

High Performance Experience

Fenna has been invited twice to train with national team programs and was narrowly cut at the final stage. This year, she has again been selected to train alongside the national team setup, demonstrating recognition of her progress and continued potential at the high-performance level.

Strengths

Fenna’s greatest strength lies in her mindset. She is highly motivated, open to learning new techniques, and consistently works to improve both technical skills and habits in the water. She maintains a positive attitude, remains focused on long-term growth, and shows strong resilience—never giving up, even in challenging situations. Her mental toughness and willingness to adapt make her a dependable presence in goal.

Athletic Goals

Fenna’s goal in the United States is to play as much as possible while continuing to improve as a goalkeeper and athlete. She is eager to fully immerse herself in the collegiate water polo environment and believes that the competitive and developmental structure in the U.S. will allow her to reach her full potential. Her ambition is to compete at the Division I or Division II level if possible and to make the most of both her athletic and personal experience in the States.
