Having played a variety of sports from a young age—soccer, tennis, field hockey, and boxing—Gijs developed a broad athletic foundation before falling in love with baseball. This diverse background, paired with his natural athletic genes and disciplined mindset, allows him to quickly adapt, learn, and refine his skills.

Gijs is particularly inspired by the winner’s mentality and structured approach to sports and academics found in the United States.
