Level
Iris currently plays for HC Eemsmond Women 1 and has experience at the regional level. Despite still having the age to play on a U18 team, Iris was moved up to the Women 1 (senior level) team to facilitate her development as a player. Iris stems from a small club in the North of the Netherlands. Field hockey is not as big in this region, so joining a better club for her personal development was not a realistic option for her. As a youth player, Iris was already regularly asked to join the Women 1 team, and often played games with them, making her accustomed to a faster and more physical style of play. Much of what she has learned as a player has come through self-motivation and personal effort, showing her independence and drive to grow.

Playing style
Iris is an attacking minded player (midfield/forward), known for her strong mentality. She stays positive, never gives up, and always plays to win. On the field, she stands out for her possession skills and drive to attack the play. Her strong basic skill set allow her to keep possession of the ball and pass effectively with different techniques. Iris is a physically strong player and accustomed to playing full games without subbing. She has been the captain of her youth teams since the U12 level, recognized early on for her vision, communication, and leadership on the field. She has helped lead her team from the lowest league all the way up to the 2e klasse, showing consistent development and commitment. Iris is always open to feedback and very willing to learn and improve. 

Academics
Iris is expected to graduate from the highest level of Dutch high school (VWO) in 2026 and is preparing to continue both her education and hockey career in the United States. She is in possession of a B2 Cambridge certificate and is expected to take the Duolingo Test in the Fall of 2025.

Iris looks forward to growing in a competitive environment, learning from experienced coaches, and contributing to a college field hockey team with the same leadership and dedication she’s shown throughout her career.
