As a right-handed player, Maarten is known for his aggressive playing style and all-around technical ability. His strong serve, effective volleys, and preference for coming to the net allow him to dictate play, while his ability to adapt to various opponents gives him a versatile edge on the court. Maarten’s offensive mindset is complemented by his quick learning and tactical awareness, making him a formidable opponent in singles and doubles play. 

What truly sets Maarten apart is his work ethic, determination, and sportsmanship. He is disciplined, coachable, and maintains a positive attitude both on and off the court. His drive to improve, paired with his supportive nature, makes him a valuable team player who consistently brings energy and motivation to his teammates.

One area Maarten is focusing on is building consistency in his play, particularly during extended rallies. To address this, he is engaging in regular match play, training sessions, and working on his physical strength to better handle the demands of competitive tennis.

Maarten’s goals are clear and ambitious. He aims to continue improving his overall game, contribute meaningfully to his future college team, and compete at the highest level in both regional and national tournaments.

Notable Achievements

• Undefeated in all singles matches during the 2024/2025 high school season with Northwest Wolves
• Ranked position number 3 in Iowa (Boys U16), with a top result of 3rd place at Level 4 U16 tournament
• Improved UTR by 2 points within 1 year at Genesis Tennis Academy in Des Moines
• Competed in the Dutch Youth Championship Tennis (NJK) for boys U12 and U14
• Participated in the Dutch Junior Tour across U12, U14, and U16 age groups
• Trained for over 7 years at ALTA Amersfoort and the Bogtstra & Kockx Academy in the Netherlands
