About Rutger van Dongen

After being a passionate soccer player for many years, Rutger has now been playing tennis for about 2.5 years. He is a dedicated tennis player who trains consistently, focusing on both his fitness and technique. His playing style is that of an aggressive baseliner, and he is particularly effective with his forehand inside-out shot, which is a key weapon in his attacking game. Rutger is always working to improve his performance from the baseline while expanding his overall game.

He competes regularly, playing an average of 6 times a week and participating in league matches each year. Over the past year, Rutger has competed in 11 tournaments, where he has consistently shown strong results, such as:

  • 6-3 1-6 9-11 loss to Daniël Quilotte (5.59 UTR)
  • 7-6 4-6 10-6 win over Jan Smet (4.88 UTR)
  • 4-6 7-5 5-7 loss to Pawel Grosz (5.32 UTR)

Rutger’s favorite shot is his forehand inside-out, a powerful strike that allows him to control points and set up offensive plays. He is always refining this shot to ensure it remains a dominant part of his game.

Academically, Rutger is interested in pursuing a career in business and is looking for a university that can support both his academic goals and his tennis development.

In the U.S., Rutger aims to further develop his tennis abilities, with the goal of competing at a higher level. He is committed to improving both physically and technically, while also achieving success in his academic pursuits.

Rutger is excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and is determined to take his tennis and academic careers to the next level.
