Level
Sam currently plays for SCHC U18-2 and has experience at the higher (regional) levels of Dutch youth hockey (Subtop/Eerste Klasse). The club SCHC is widely recognized for developing elite-level players. The U18-2 team is composed of athletes who compete for a spot on the U18-1 squad, one of the strongest youth teams in the national league. During the most recent indoor season, she was invited to train and compete with the SCHC Women 3 team. This opportunity allowed her to gain valuable experience playing alongside seasoned players at the senior level, helping her further develop her physicality, tactical understanding, and composure under pressure.

Playing style
Sam is an attacking-minded right back known for her strong defensive instincts and versatility. She is physically strong and reads the game well, allowing her to intercept passes and time her tackles effectively. Her technical range includes accurate long and short passing, using techniques such as the (reverse) sweep and aerial pass to build play from the back. When under pressure, she uses her body fakes effectively to create space and retain possession. Sam is a hard worker who brings intensity and focus to every match. She also contributes as part of the defensive penalty corner unit in multiple positions.

Academics
Sam is enrolled in the VWO track, the highest level of Dutch secondary education, and is expected to graduate in July 2026. She is a motivated and disciplined student who combines her academic goals with her athletic ambitions. In preparation for studying abroad, she will take the Duolingo English Test and the SAT in the coming months.

Sam is highly motivated to continue her hockey career and academic journey in the United States, and is hoping to join an ambitious field hockey program starting in the Fall of 2026.
