Personal:

Meet Tijn Laanen, a 6’3 Dutch goalkeeper (2006) whose determination and work ethic set him apart both on and off the soccer field. Currently playing for VV O.N.I in the 4e Klasse in the Netherlands, Tijn graduated  high school in the spring of 2024. His ambition to improve and his passion for the game are evident in everything he does, whether it’s in team training or his individual efforts to sharpen his skills. Tijn is not just focused on athletic excellence—his 3.45 GPA highlights his ability to balance both academics and sports. He’s driven to make the most of his future, both on the pitch and in the classroom, and is exploring opportunities to further develop in an ambitious academic and athletic environment after graduation.

Academics:

Tijn Laanen is as committed to his academic pursuits as he is to his soccer career. Maintaining a GPA of 3.45, he showcases the discipline and intelligence required to excel in his studies while balancing the demands of competitive sports. Tijn is scheduled to take the SAT and English Proficiency Test later this year. He is interested in studying fields related to (sports) management. 

Soccer:

Tijn’s goalkeeping style reflects his comfort with the ball at his feet, allowing him to contribute to the build-up play, a key aspect of modern goalkeeping. Known for his vocal leadership from the back, Tijn coaches his team and organises the defense with confidence. His strength in 1v1 situations makes him a formidable last line of defense, while his 6’3 frame adds to his presence in the box. Additionally has been able to gain a lot of experience since he has been a starter for the first team for the past three years. Though he is focused on improving his left foot and handling cross balls, Tijn is also working on becoming more dominant in his area, aiming to control his box with even greater authority. His relentless drive to improve makes him a key asset to his team and a player with a bright future.
