Tijn van Gorkom

In the early juniors, Tijn played at the highest national level and competed for top spots in the junior rankings. At the age of 13/14, an injury kept him aside for quite a while. Followed by the Covid-19 pandemic, Tijn was not able to play a lot of tennis for a few years, Tijn kept working on his physique and always stayed interested in the game. This year he decided to fully focus on tennis again and has improved massively over the last few months.

Tijn likes to play as an aggressive baseline player that loves to go to the net. He runs around his backhand quite a lot and likes to dictate points with his forehand. He has a big serve that gives him free points, but also has a lot of potential to develop his percentage on the first serve. Tijn has a strong physique and is very well suited for the college gamestyle on hardcourts.

Tijn currently competes for TC Zandvoort, one of the most prestigious tennis clubs in the Netherlands, represented by professional players such as Tallon Griekspoor and Jesper de Jong. Tijn won nearly all of his matches in this year's club league and won 2 national doubles titles last summer.

- Win over Noah Pawirodirjo (UTR 9.97): 57 62 10-6 (this match has been filmed and full video is available upon request)

- Loss to Sam Linck (UTR 10.29) 36 57

Coming from a true tennis family (his sister played at a high level and his father is a coach), Tijn has a great set up to keep improving his game over the next few years. In combination with the right college team, we believe that he has a lot of potential to become a strong college player, but even more importantly to become a great team member on and off the court.

Tijn is interested in studying business or something related.
