Tijs currently trains twice a week, combining one group session with one private lesson, and intends to increase this to three sessions by adding another private lesson in the spring. He plays at least one practice match per week and competes in both Spring and Fall leagues. While he frequently enters tournaments, playing doubles more often than singles, he has set a goal to compete in more singles tournaments in the coming year.

After a break from the sport due to local availability, Tijs returned to tennis three years ago at ‘CTV de Doelen’, where he joined a high-level training group. Since picking up the racket again, he has been competing in a great team environment with likeminded people, rediscovering the level he held during his youth when he was selected for KNLTB training and played Junior National Ranked Tournaments.

7-5 3-6 6-4 win over Boele Bouman (6.96 UTR)
6-2 6-4 win over Robert-Jan van der Putten (7.67 UTR) 

Alongside tennis, Tijs is studying Aviation Engineering at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS). He is interested in pursuing a Master’s degree in the United States, focusing on Aviation, the QSSE field (Quality, Safety, Security, Health, and Environment), or Performance Psychology, before pursuing his goal of becoming an airline pilot.
