Daan Houweling

Daan Houweling (2002) is a Dutch golfer interested in playing college golf starting in the Fall of 2020. He started playing golf relatively late, when he was 15 years old. In two years’ time he has improved his game rapidly. He now has a single handicap and is working very hard to improve even more. He is very dedicated to the game of golf and he would like to become a scratch golfer.

Before Daan started playing golf, he played field hockey at a high level. As a goalkeeper he has always played in the first team of his club and has won many different championships including a National championship. Playing field hockey at this level helped in gain a lot of discipline and learned what it is like to compete at the highest level and win.

Since fully focusing on golf, Daan became the champion in division 2 of the national team competition in 2019. With this performance his team promoted to division 1 and they are working hard to win the league again this year.
One of Daan’s strength is that he is mentally tough. He never gives up and always puts in a 100% effort. In addition, he is physically quite strong and has a long and flexible body which gives him the ability to create a high club head speed. His best 18 hole score is 76.

Daan is expecting to graduate in the Spring of 2020 from the highest level of high school (VWO). Besides improving his golf game, Daan finds his studies very important. He is not sure which major he wants to pursue yet and is open to exploring multiple opportunities. Please check out the details for more information about his academics.
