David van Kuik

David used to play field hockey until age 16, at which he decided to focus on distance running only. During the Corona pandemic in 2020 he started running and immediately fell in love with the sport. He explored his talent for distance running and decided to join his local club team Utrack. He made lots of progress very quickly and even made Nationals U18 during his first year of running track competing in the 3000m.  

His major strength is his motivation. David likes to train hard and does everything in order to become a faster, stronger and better athlete. This highly motivated athlete is very consistent in his training and is working on his aerobic base by steadily increasing his training volume. Recently (2023), he ran his first 10k road race ever finishing 13th U18 at Nationals. An area David is currently working on is strength and mobility and his arm movement while running. We strongly believe there is still much for improvement, especially considering David only started running track about 2 years ago. If he keeps developing athletically and training consistently he’ll steadily improve his performances and, become a much faster athlete within the next couple years.

His current PBs are:

800m: 2:11,38 (2022)

1500m: 4:33,77 (2022)

3000m: 10:09,13 (2022)

5000m: 16:30,97 (2023)10k road: 35:50 (2023)

David’s major athletic goals in the U.S.A are to perform at his absolute best for his college team and get the maximum out his collegiate running career. In general, he would like to become the fastest and best version of himself both on and off the track. 

He’s currently enrolled in the highest level of high school in The Netherlands (Gymnasium, bilingual) and is expected to graduate in the Spring of 2024. David is interested in doing a major in Computer Engineering or Computer Science. For more information about his academics, please check out the details section below.
