About Bjorn Kouwenhoven

Athletic Background

Bjorn has been involved in athletics for 16 years, developing his foundation at a small club in the south of France. His first experience competing at U20 level at the national championships (FK) resulted in a strong 6th-place finish with a throw of 54.19 meters. The following year was challenging due to shoulder and back injuries. Despite this setback, he still managed to compete at both the national championships (NK) and FK, once again finishing 6th nationally, although the FK competition did not go as planned and he narrowly missed the final.

During his first year as a U23 athlete, Bjorn faced limited training opportunities as he also worked as a coach, which reduced his available training time. Nevertheless, he qualified again for the FK and finished 11th, setting a new personal best of 54.69 meters, a mark that still stands today.

This season, Bjorn has returned to full training with renewed focus. He is now working closely with a dedicated coach, training four times per week under supervision and adding one to two additional independent sessions. His season has started strongly with a throw of 53.81 meters, signaling clear upward momentum and the expectation of a new personal record.

Bjorn is a serious and highly motivated athlete with a strong desire to learn. He understands technical instructions quickly and benefits from having a solid athletic base, allowing him to adopt new techniques efficiently. His physical strength is steadily improving and is becoming an increasingly important factor in his performance and overall development as a thrower.

Areas to Improve

Bjorn recognizes that there is still significant room for improvement, both in technical execution and physical strength. These areas remain key focus points in his current training process as he continues to build toward higher-level performances.

Athletic Goals

Bjorn’s goal is to push his limits and explore how far he can develop as a javelin thrower. With high-quality coaching, consistent training, and the right environment, he believes he can throw significantly farther. In addition to performance goals, he aims to gain an unforgettable athletic and personal experience that will contribute to his long-term growth, both on and off the field.
