About Daniel Tiggelman

Strengths
Daniel is a high-energy combo guard who brings quickness, leadership, and determination to the court. His defensive presence is one of his strongest assets. He averages 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 1.5 steals per game – testament to his effort and toughness. He also has an impressive vertical for his size and can dunk, though he’s working on making that a more consistent part of his game.

Offensively, Daniel has solid shooting from the mid-range and is building more consistency from the three-point line. He’s had standout performances, including a personal best of 16 points, and filled the stat sheet in a win against a same-age opponent with 15 points, 4 assists, 7 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 5 steals. He also plays a vocal leadership role, constantly communicating on the floor and helping his team stay organized and focused. Since joining the ISE team in 2021, he’s shown steady growth in confidence, playmaking, and decision-making.

Goals
Daniel’s goals are to continue improving his shooting, build more physical strength, and raise his in-game IQ while combining this with his education. He is looking to major in Design, specifically in Architecture or Product Design. Daniel is eager to challenge himself against stronger competition and learn from experienced coaches. His long-term goal is to become a smarter, more reliable, and well-rounded basketball player who can contribute meaningfully at the university level starting in 2026.

Academics & Extracurriculars
Outside of basketball, Daniel is a highly engaged student with a strong academic and extracurricular profile. As part of the IB Diploma Programme, he has explored design and engineering through projects such as his Extended Essay “To what extent are human factors in design considered by local libraries in Eindhoven to achieve a pleasant user experience?” and a personal project where he built a functioning remote-controlled Cessna aircraft. He also designed an innovative foldable Dutch bike basket for his DP2 Product Design course and attended a 2024 Summer School in Architecture at Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom.

Daniel is active in Model United Nations, where he has represented his school multiple times at international conferences and earned recognition such as the Best Delegate Award at MUNISE 2024. He also takes initiative in leadership roles, serving as the leader of the Aviation Club and leading his school’s basketball team.

Community engagement is another important part of his profile: Daniel has participated in sustainable farming initiatives, volunteered at elderly care centers, supported children with Down syndrome during community events, and helped raise funds for education projects in Kenya. His dedication to service reflects his commitment to growth both on and off the court.

Additional Info:
Daniel has been a dedicated member of the ISE basketball program since 2021, playing mostly as a shooting guard and occasionally as a point guard. Competing with a younger and often undersized roster in the U18 division, he consistently takes on a leadership role and gives maximum effort on both ends of the court. This led him to be chosen to be captain of the team. Over the years, he has grown in every area of the game – physically, mentally, and technically – and is determined to keep pushing forward.
