Level
Evy started playing field hockey when she was 4 years old and has always stayed loyal to her local club. She has always been a member of the top level teams of her club, playing at the higher regional levels. Since 2024, she is regularly asked to practice or play games with the Alecto Women 1 team, gaining experience at the fourth highest senior level of The Netherlands (Eerste Klasse). Playing at the senior level has sped up her development as a player tremendously and has made her used to a more physical style of play.

Playing style
Evy is a dynamic, fast forward who is known for her aggressive game approach and scoring abilities. She often is the topscorer of her team, scoring 15-20 goals per season. The 2024-2025 season has been Evy’s best so far, already having already scored 20 goals in 20 games. Evy’s strong basic skill set allows her to play the game at a high speed and give accurate passes to her teammates. She’s also great at accelerating past defenders, recognizing open spaces to lead into, as well as positioning herself in smart positions in front of the cage. In defensive situations, Evy works hard and tirelessly sticks with the play. She is known to be of great value for her team on both ends of the field (offensively and defensively). Evy is the first choice stick stopper on attacking penalty corners and the first runner (fly) on defensive penalty corners. Before playing in the front line, Evy gained experience in all other positions on the field, making her a very versatile player.

Leadership and coaching
Being a born leader, Evy was named team captain of her current U18-1 team and has been named team captain for multiple teams in different age groups in the previous years. During her career so far, Evy has led her team to multiple championships over the years. She is excited to bring that experience with her to the USA and help her college team play for championships as well. Evy enjoys spreading her love for the game and has been the/coach trainer for the U12 and U14 teams of her club for 7 years. She’s recognized as a talented young coach by the club directors.

Academics
Evy is a motivated student, and expected to graduate Dutch high school (MBO level) in June 2026.

Additional information
Evy’s mom was one of the first generation Dutch players to find her way to the USA, playing for OSU during the ’94-’97 seasons. 

Evy is excited to start her adventure in the USA and is extremely committed to contributing to the academic and athletic success of her future college and team.
