Athletic Background

Jelle began his water polo journey with ZPC Amersfoort at a young age, joining the club when he was still part of the U11 team. Over the years, he developed into a skilled and confident goalkeeper with a deep understanding of the game.

In recent seasons, Jelle played for ZPC Het Ravijn, where he gained valuable experience at the senior Eredivisie level, competing against some of the strongest teams in the Netherlands. Starting this season, he returned to ZPC Amersfoort to continue his growth as a high-level goalkeeper within their men’s program.

Internationally, Jelle represented the Dutch Junior National Team from 2017 to 2022, earning valuable experience in multiple international tournaments. A highlight of his early career was competing at the European Youth Championships U17 in Malta, where the Netherlands finished 7th. These years at the international level helped him build not only skill and confidence, but also the mindset of a high-performance athlete.

Strengths

Jelle’s key strengths lie in his passing precision, game awareness, and leadership in the water. As a goalkeeper, he is not only a defensive asset but also plays an active role in initiating counterattacks and directing the field from the back. His ability to read the game and communicate effectively makes him a dependable and strategic player.

Areas to Improve

Jelle is currently focused on improving his positioning within the goal. By sharpening his focus and minimizing distractions from opponents, he aims to elevate his consistency and performance under pressure.

Athletic Goals

Jelle’s ultimate goal is to represent the Netherlands at the national level again. In the U.S., he hopes to develop further as a goalkeeper by training in a competitive, team-oriented, and high-intensity environment. He is eager to keep improving his skills, gain international experience, and contribute to his team’s success both in and out of the pool.
