Level
Julie currently plays for MHC Zutphen U18-1 and has experience at the Super and Subtopklasse levels. She also regularly plays matches with the club’s Women’s 1 team, gaining valuable senior-level experience and getting used to a more physical style of play. 

Background
Julie has played field hockey at MHC Zutphen since she was very young. The club is smaller and located farther from larger clubs, yet provides a competitive environment where she became a key player. To further develop her skills, the club moved her up to play with older players.

Playing style
On her youth team Julie plays as a midfielder, while with the Women’s team she usually plays as a center back. Julie has excellent field vision and composure on the ball. She consistently looks to play forward passes that put attackers into scoring positions and is confident in breaking lines through smart receptions, technical skill and quick decision-making. Julie plays with high energy and intensity, bringing momentum and enthusiasm to the team. Her ability to read the game, combined with her work rate and versatility, allows her to contribute both offensively and defensively at a high level. 

High performance
In the 2021–2022 season, Julie was selected for the U14 regional team, where she was introduced to a higher level of play and selective training. She started on the training squad and later earned a place in the official selection, competing in the final regional tournament (OOD). Julie was later invited to trial for the U15 regional team, reflecting continued recognition of her potential.

Academics
Julie is a strong student in the highest level of Dutch secondary education (VWO) and is expected to graduate in June 2027. She follows a bilingual (Dutch/English) academic program and has earned both Cambridge English B2 and C1 certificates. In her final year (6 VWO), she will complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) English exam.

Julie is excited to start her college career in Fall 2027. She’s hoping to learn a lot while making valuable contributions to her team.
