Thijn van der Heijden (2008) is an all-round gymnast from the Netherlands. His favourite apparatuses are the pommel horse and the still rings, but he is working on the other apparatuses as well. He represents Tensor Turnen Weert.

He has been improving a lot in the last seasons. Thijn’s passion for gymnastics started at just 4 years old and he started competing in the years that followed. At the age of 10, he switched clubs, followed by switching trainers when he was 12-13, to get his performance to a higher level. His PB’s are from the 2022-2023 season, but he also has had great results this season so far. During the qualifications and semi finals for the Dutch Championships in 2024, he stood on the podium for all 3 of his competitions. In the finals, he placed second and got a second place in the overall rankings. In the apparatus finals he received a gold medal on parallel bars, silver on vault and bronze on still rings.

Thijn has great ambitions for his time in the US. He wants to improve on parallel bars and high bar the most. His current focus is on enhancing his skills on flight elements on high bar like jeager. On parallel bars he wants to work on diamidov and healy. 

Thijn is expected to graduate high school in June 2025. He is looking to join a college program where he combine gymnastics with a major in wildlife biology.
