    About Jonathan van Bokhorst

    Athletic Background

Jonathan has built up solid experience across a wide range of middle- and long-distance events, including the 800m to the 5000m, as well as cross-country during the autumn and winter seasons. A club switch helped mark a fresh start, and since then, he has been rebuilding steadily. Jonathan has consistently shown commitment to improvement and high-level performance.

Jonathan’s track season faced an unexpected interruption due to a registration error, which prevented him from participating in several track meets. As a result, he went an extended period without competing on the track, shifting his focus to cross-country during the fall and winter months. Despite the lack of race opportunities, Jonathan remained commited to his training and development. Rather than letting the disruption hinder his momentum, Jonathan used the time to continue building endurance, sharpening his mindset, and preparing for a powerful return to competition.

That preparation has paid off. Jonathan has returned to competition with renewed energy, making significant progress and improving his personal bests across multiple events. His most recent results are listed below.

    Strengths

Jonathan’s greatest strenght lies in his balance as an athlete. He has the determination to push himself during tough sessions and races, yet he also understands when to listen to his body and adjust his efforts. He’s never afraid to give full effort toward a training goal, but equally capable of recognizing when rest or adaptation is needed. His curiosity about all aspects of the sport and his openness to feedback make him highly coachable. This balance between discipline and reflection positions him as a thoughtful, resilient competitor.

    Goals

Jonathan’s primary goal is to enjoy the process of performing at a high level while continuously developing himself as a complete athlete. He aspires to train and compete in the US, where he can take full advantage of elite facilities and coaching. Long-term, he dreams of qualifying for European Championships, while always maintaining his core belief: that joy and performance should go hand in hand.
