    About Thom van Steijn

Thom currently plays for Spaarnestad’s highest U18 boys team and also competes with their senior men’s team (Heren 4). In addition to his regular training and matches at Spaarnestad, he also trains with RVV’s First Division men’s team to further challenge himself and continue growing as a player.

Despite only starting volleyball four years ago, Thom has made impressive progress thanks to his relentless work ethic and commitment to improvement. He is highly dedicated, always striving to put in as much work as possible to reach his full potential. His strong drive and focus on long-term development set him apart.

Thom’s goal is clear: to become the best volleyball player he can be, and to take full advantage of the opportunities that playing and studying in the U.S. can offer. One area he is actively working on is his mental game, specifically learning to let go of mistakes more quickly so he can stay fully present and effective during matches and practices.

Academically, Thom is currently enrolled in the highest level of Dutch high school (VWO) and expects to graduate in June 2026. He is interested in majors such as communication or data science, but remains open to exploring a wide range of academic paths as he continues to grow both on and off the court.
