Level

Anabel competes for Schaerweijde, a premier hockey club in the Netherlands. Throughout her youth career, she has gained extensive experience competing at the highest national levels, playing predominantly in the Super league, the second highest level for her age division.

Playing style

Anabel is an exceptionally fast and powerful player who operates effectively as a right back or right midfielder. Leveraging her height and reach, she uses her speed and strength to accelerate past the opponent’s first pressing line and carry the ball the length of the pitch before delivering a poised assist or drawing a penalty corner. Tactically versatile, she knows precisely when to drive with speed and when to utilize quick, smart connection passes to combine with teammates and advance up the pitch. She serves as a first strike on attacking penalty corners and first runner on defensive penalty corners. Anabel is mentally resilient, highly competitive, and consistently brings grit and determination to every match.

Accomplishments

Anabel has a proven track record of competing for titles at the national level. She won the Super B national championship with her team in 2025 and followed it up with a runner-up finish in the Super B championships in 2026. Additionally, she secured second place with her team at the prestigious, high-level AB Tournament in Eindhoven in 2026.

High performance

Recognized for her elite athletic capabilities and pitch performance, Anabel was selected to participate in the Dutch U16 national team selection trials, competing alongside the top talent in the country within the KNHB national pathway.

Additional athletic information

In addition to her field hockey career, Anabel competed in high-level equestrian dressage for years with her own pony. She was crowned regional champion in her division and went on to represent her region at the Dutch National Championships. While her primary focus is now dedicated to field hockey and academics, this background demonstrates her discipline and understanding of what it takes to perform at a high level.

Academics

Anabel is expected to graduate Dutch high school at the VWO level in June 2027. She is a motivated and disciplined student-athlete who successfully balances her hockey commitments with her academics.
