Baseball:
Rutger’s athletic pathway shows a consistent pattern of seeking higher competition and extra development opportunities. In the Netherlands, he has participated in multiple high-level training programs and events, including Rabbits Winterschool, Diamonds Winterschool, Scimitars Winterschool, Pirates Academy, and specialized catcher training with Jair van Burkulo. He has also gained extensive international experience through tournaments and training weeks in Spain (Barcelona), Germany (Paderborn), Aruba, Tenerife, Italy (Rome), and the Czech Republic (Prague), competing against different styles of play and learning to adapt quickly in unfamiliar environments.

As a player, Rutger stands out for his leadership and game understanding. As a catcher, he naturally takes responsibility for guiding the team, motivating teammates, and managing the game with strong awareness and instinct. He describes himself as a hardworking team player who enjoys training intensely, and his ability to anticipate plays. Often knowing what needs to happen before it happens, shows his advanced insight for his age. He believes the key to continued growth is to keep training and, most importantly, to keep playing as many high-level games as possible with his team.

Academics:
Alongside his sport, Rutger understands the importance of discipline, structure, and personal development. These are qualities he applies both in school and in baseball. His commitment to training, learning, and competing at a high level reflects a mature mindset that fits well within demanding academic-athletic environments such as boarding schools.

Athletic Goals:
Rutger’s long-term goal is to develop in the United States in a more competitive baseball environment than what is available in the Netherlands. He is motivated to train more intensively, play more games, and use the boarding school pathway as a stepping stone toward college baseball with a scholarship. Ultimately, Rutger’s ambition is to progress through the American baseball system, with the dream of reaching the Minor Leagues and eventually the MLB.
