Athletic Background

Sem began his football career with the Rotterdam Anaconda’s before moving on to the Rotterdam Trojans, where he currently competes in the BNL, the top league in the region. Along the way, he has gained valuable international and high-performance experience with Starz Elite, Prospect Academy, and the Dutch Lions U20.

His competitive résumé includes:

    –  1st place, BNL Champions 2022

    – 2nd place, BNL Champions 2020 & 2021

•⁠  ⁠Tackle football:

    – 1st place, BNL Youth Champions 2022

Sem’s development accelerated through his involvement with the Dutch Lions U20, Starz Elite, and Prospect Academy—programs that helped him refine his technical skills and gain exposure to high-performance environments.

Strengths

Sem is known for his football instincts and coachability, adapting to new systems and responsibilities on the field. His vision allows him to read plays, while his combination of speed, agility, and lower-body strength make him a versatile player from sideline to sideline. He thrives in pass coverage situations, using anticipation and mobility to disrupt plays. Sem also brings leadership and focus to his teams, setting high standards in both training and competition.

Areas to Improve

Sem is focused on building more upper-body strength to match his lower-body power. He is also working on improving his ability to shed blocks more effectively and further sharpening his reaction time to maximize his defensive impact.

Sem’s ultimate goal is to reach the highest possible level in American football. By combining his natural talent, work ethic, and international experience, he is determined to keep developing physically, technically, and mentally, while taking on new challenges in stronger competitive environments.

Academic Background

Sem has a unique academic background that reflects both his intellectual ability and adaptability. Identified as gifted at a young age through the WISC-V test, he was given the opportunity to attend a specialized gifted school for the 5th and 6th grades. Afterwards, he chose to attend a regular high school to further develop his social skills. He completed 6 years of VWO (the highest level of secondary education in the Netherlands) at this high school, eventually graduating with a HAVO diploma. 

With a proven high IQ, Sem learns and adapts quickly, which also translates to the football field—where he is known for his strong football IQ, quick decision-making, and ability to pick up plays with ease.
