Athletic Background
Stan has been part of AV NOP since the age of six, progressing through the club’s youth categories and continuing to compete at junior level. He has participated in official and unofficial Dutch National Championships since entering the junior categories. At the 2026 Dutch Indoor U18 Championships, he achieved two 10th-place finishes, running the 400m in 52.49 seconds and the 60mH in 8.63 seconds.
During the 2026 outdoor season, Stan competed in the 400mH for the first time. He immediately showed strong potential, improving his personal best to 55.16 and finishing 3rd at the Dutch U18 National Championships in September 2026. This result confirmed his ability to compete for medals at the national level in the 400mH despite having only recently started competing in the event.
Stan also competes in the 110mH and finished 5th at the Dutch U18 National Championships in September 2026, running 14.78 seconds. The performance was achieved with an invalid wind reading, meaning it does not count as an official personal best. His official PB remains 15.04 seconds.
One of Stan’s notable strengths as a hurdler is his ability to hurdle with both legs. This gives him flexibility in his race rhythm and allows him to adapt his technique depending on the situation. Combined with his experience across both the 110mH and 400mH, this provides him with a versatile foundation as he continues to specialize.
Stan has built his development around consistent training and a willingness to put in the work. He trains almost every day and is motivated by the enjoyment he gets from the sport as well as the desire to continuously improve.
Personal Records
Strengths
Stan’s biggest strengths are his discipline, perseverance, and passion for athletics. He is committed to training almost every day and is willing to consistently put in the work required to improve. His positive approach to the sport and enjoyment of training help him stay motivated and focused on long-term development.
As a hurdler, Stan is particularly versatile. He is comfortable hurdling with both legs, which allows him to adapt his stride pattern and maintain flexibility in his technique. His combination of short-hurdle ability and potential in the 400mH also gives him a strong foundation to continue developing in multiple hurdle events.
Areas to Improve
Stan believes there is significant room to improve the structure and focus of his training. Currently, he trains across several different events and would like to specialize more in the future, allowing him to dedicate more time and attention to his strongest disciplines.
He is also focused on developing his pure speed. While he feels confident in his hurdling technique, particularly over the 400mH barriers, improving his speed will be an important step toward lowering his times and reaching his full potential.
Athletic Goals
Stan’s goal is to get the most out of himself and compete at the highest level possible. He wants to continue developing as an athlete, identify the events where he has the greatest potential, and work consistently toward reaching his highest possible level. After his successful 2026 outdoor season, including a national bronze medal in the 400mH, he is motivated to continue improving his speed and hurdling performances and compete for higher national finishes in the coming seasons.
