Athletic Background
Stijn has built his athletic career around all four throwing events rather than specializing in a single discipline. This versatility allows him to compete in a wide range of competitions and contribute across multiple events, although it can also make it more difficult to achieve consistently high national rankings in one specific discipline.
One of his strongest achievements came at the Dutch Student Championships (NSK), where he finished 2nd in the discus. He has also achieved multiple second- and third-place finishes at Limburg and South Netherlands championships. At the NSK, he finished second in discus and placed fifth in each of the other throwing events.
Stijn currently competes for E.S.A.V. Asterix and is also involved with AV Weert. Alongside his own training and competition, he works as an all-round athletics coach for athletes aged 11–15, giving him experience in helping younger athletes develop across different disciplines.

Strengths
Stijn’s biggest strength is his determination to improve. He is constantly looking for ways to become a better athlete and actively invests time in learning about throwing. He regularly watches technical videos and studies different aspects of the throwing events to better understand how he can improve.
He is also highly resourceful and persistent. If he does not have access to the ideal training conditions or guidance, he looks for alternative ways to practice and continue developing. His strong desire to improve is one of the main reasons he believes he can make significant progress with the right environment and coaching.
His experience across all four throwing events also gives him a broad understanding of throwing technique and athletic development.
Areas to Improve
The biggest area for Stijn’s development is technique. He believes that he has considerably more potential than his current performances show, but that he needs more specialized technical guidance to unlock it.
At the moment, he does not have consistent access to a coach with the specific expertise needed to identify the technical areas he should focus on and provide clear direction on how to improve them. Working with experienced throwing coaches in a structured collegiate environment would therefore be a major opportunity for his development.
Athletic Goals
Stijn’s main goal is to become the best version of himself as an athlete. Rather than focusing solely on a specific result, Stijn is motivated by continuous improvement. He wants to keep developing his technique, become stronger across all throwing events, and see how far he can take his athletic potential with the right coaching and training environment.
Coaching Experience
In addition to being an athlete, Stijn works as an all-round athletics coach for athletes aged 11–15. This role has given him experience in teaching and supporting younger athletes across different disciplines and has strengthened his understanding of athletics from a coaching perspective.
