In this article, we’ll tell you more about student-athlete Jente de Jongh. At the bottom, you’ll also find a video in which Jente talks more about himself.
Sport: Women’s Tennis
Entry semester: Fall 2027
This is Jente de Jongh, a motivated tennis player from the Netherlands. Jente was introduced to tennis at a young age by a friend. In addition to tennis, she also practiced gymnastics and horseback riding, but ultimately chose to focus entirely on tennis.
As her passion for the sport grew, Jente joined her tennis club’s select team. There, she had the opportunity to continue improving her game under the guidance of experienced coaches and to participate in tournaments more and more often.
Jente has now gained a great deal of competitive experience at events such as regional youth championships and JRT tournaments. She has also won the club championship several times. These experiences have helped her develop further, both technically and mentally.
On the court, Jente’s greatest strengths lie in her first serve and her forehand. With her serve, she tries to take the initiative right away, while her forehand is a key weapon for dictating rallies and creating opportunities. She is also currently focusing on building her mental strength and self-confidence to become a more well-rounded and consistent player.
In the United States, Jente hopes to combine playing tennis at a high level with a suitable course of study. She also sees it as a great opportunity to further develop herself as a person and build an international network.
“I want to continue to grow as a player and as a person, while balancing high-level tennis with my academic goals.” – Jente de Jongh
