Athletics
Annelijn’s game is built around an aggressive mindset and a strong desire to compete for every point. Rather than waiting for opponents to make mistakes, she looks to take control of rallies from the start. Her forehand is her biggest weapon, allowing her to put opponents under constant pressure, while her solid backhand makes her equally dangerous from both sides of the court.
For the past 2.5 years, Annelijn has been training under Roan Valk. During this period, she made the decision to switch clubs from TC de Sprenkelaar, where she competed for the first team, to a training environment that better supported her long-term development. Since making that move, she has continued to improve her game through consistent training and competitive match play. Annelijn is highly motivated, eager to learn, and always looking for ways to become a more complete player.
Strengths
One of Annelijn’s biggest strengths is her aggressive style of play. She enjoys taking initiative during rallies and uses her powerful forehand to dictate play and create opportunities. Combined with a reliable backhand, she is able to maintain pressure from both wings and keep opponents on the defensive. Her fighting mentality and willingness to compete for every point make her a difficult player to face.
Some of Annelijn’s best UTR-based results include:
– 64 46 104 win over Aaliyah Poeran (UTR 5.86)
– 64 62 win over Inez Anita Soof (UTR 5.13)
– 57 46 loss to Kalina Zielińska (UTR 7.11)
Academics
Alongside her tennis career, Annelijn is a dedicated student currently completing VWO, the highest level of high school education in the Netherlands. She expects to graduate in June 2027. She has a strong interest in health science or something related to that. She is looking for a university where she can pursue a challenging academic program while continuing to develop as a collegiate tennis player.
