Level
Maren currently plays for De Mezen Dames 1, a senior level team in the Tweede Klasse. During her youth career, Maren has always played in the first teams of her club and has been competing at a high level from a young age. She has gained experience at the highest levels of Dutch youth hockey: National League level (Landelijk)/Super and Subtop. She has consistently trained with other talented goalkeeper coaches from the EKA Keepers Academy and continues to challenge herself by training and competing at the highest level possible. Competing at the senior level allows Maren to grow in her speed, decision making and communication, preparing her well for the collegiate level.

Playing style
Maren is a vocal and assertive goalkeeper who takes control of her circle and keeps her defense organized. She reads the game very well and knows when to step out aggressively or when to hold her position. Maren is especially strong in one-on-one situations, where her confidence, timing, and stick handling allow her to shut down attackers effectively. Her active style means she’s constantly involved in play, cutting off angles and managing rebounds with precision. Her ability to anticipate the next move and communicate clearly with her teammates makes her a reliable leader on the field.

Accomplishments
Maren helped her teams qualify twice for the U16 Dutch National Indoor Championship. She also contributed to her team’s strong performance at the HDM International Easter Tournament, winning first and second place in consecutive years. Throughout her career, she has consistently played in top youth competitions and received praise for her performance in high-pressure situations. She has also built a strong foundation in coaching, guiding young goalkeepers weekly at her club.

Academics
Maren is expected to graduate from Dutch high school (VWO level) in June 2027. She is preparing to take the Duolingo English Test and the SAT during the spring of 2026. Maren obtained her Cambridge certificate in June 2025.

Additional information
Maren loves to spread her love to the game and coaches the younger goalkeepers from her club.
