About Sem Vaessen

Athletics
Sem’s game is built around his speed, court coverage, and ability to stay consistent during long and physically demanding rallies. He makes opponents work for every point and is comfortable turning defensive situations into attacking opportunities. His fitness and mental toughness allow him to maintain a high level throughout long matches.

To further develop as an athlete, Sem was selected to train at Performance Center Venlo, an elite training environment for a select group of young athletes. Here, he works on strength and conditioning as well as the mental side of his game, helping him prepare for the physical demands of high-level tennis.

Some of his best results are:
62 62 win over Finn de Jong (UTR 8.01)
76 62 win over Mats Peeters (UTR 7.71)
26 64 710 lost to Konstantinos Lefakis (UTR 8.79)

Strengths
One of Sem’s biggest strengths is his ability to cover the court and bring back difficult balls. His speed and defensive consistency allow him to put constant pressure on opponents to play an extra shot. Sem also uses his slice effectively to change the rhythm of rallies and create opportunities to move forward and finish points at the net.

Academics
Sem is a dedicated student currently completing VWO, the highest level of high school education in the Netherlands. He expects to graduate in June 2027. Sem has not decided what he wants to major in yet.
