Thijs is an athletic person. He has a background in soccer, field hockey and skiing. He played field hockey at a national level in The Netherlands until he turned 18. His experience in field hockey has helped develop his mental toughness and ability to perform under pressure. Thijs finalized his ski instructor exams at the end of 2024 and worked as a certified ski instructor in Austria in 2024/2025. His multi-sports background adds to his well-rounded athletic profile, benefiting both his game and his team. In 2018, he discovered the game of golf.

In his first year of playing golf, he was part of the Golf Club Houtrak team which became Golf Sixes National Champion. Over the next years he improved rapidly on his golf game. He started playing in national competitions and tournaments and increased his hours of practice. In the season 2025/2026, he played for Golf Club Houtrak in the national competition at the highest youth level. In September 2025, Thijs moved to Malaga, Spain to join the University Golf Program (UGP). This is a full-time Golf program which is similar to College Golf programs in the US and UK. He is currently playing golf daily and has gained additional experience in playing in an international and competitive environment.

Thijs is currently a member at Golf Club Parador de Malaga, Spain; Golf Club Houtrak, The Netherlands and Golf Club The International in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. His best score so far was 73 (+1). His overall scoring average is currently 78,4.

The biggest strengths of Thijs are his power, distance and putting. He generates strong, consistent shots off the tee, allowing him to gain a clear advantage in length on the course. His ability to combine this power with solid distance control, helps him position himself well for scoring opportunities. On the greens, Thijs is a confident and reliable putter who can convert important chances under pressure. His disciplined practice routine and focused mindset enable him to perform consistently in both training and competition, making him a valuable asset to any team.

Thijs graduated from the highest level of High School (VWO) in The Netherlands in the Summer of 2024. His GPA is 3.7. He is currently studying Bachelor Business Administration at the Universidad Europea de Andalusia. He is interested in pursuing a major in the field of Economics/Econometrics.
