Sports: Men’s Tennis
Entry semester: Fall 2026

This is Brett Cillessen, a tennis player from the Netherlands aged 17, living in Ulft. Brett started playing tennis when he was six because his mother and brother also played tennis. At first Brett also played soccer, but after a while he decided to focus completely on tennis.

What makes Brett special as a person is that he is calm, positive and a hard worker. Brett can make the people he interacts with feel very comfortable with him.

What really sets Brett apart as an athlete is his determination. Brett wants to get better every day and his energy ensures that his teammates will go to the limit as well. Brett’s backhand is very consistent and his speed is also very good.

In the future, Brett hopes to make the most of his time in America both academically and athletically. His goal is to find a school with a good tennis and academic program and use that as an opportunity to grow both on, and off the court. What Brett can add to a team is positive energy, discipline and the drive to make not only himself, but those around him better.
