Sports: Men’s Skiing
Entry semester: Fall 2025

Daen Bruin’s passion for skiing began at a young age, when he mostly sought out plastic slopes for slalom races in his freshman year. When he was 12 years old, he started training on the mountain, and that was when the spark really caught on for skiing. Since then, he has focused entirely on the sport. Daen trains almost every day in the ski halls and in the gym, and has already won several awards, including Dutch youth champion indoor skiing and a silver medal in the Dutch outdoor championships.

If you ask Daen’s coaches and friends what kind of person he is, they will say that he is a hard worker who does everything to achieve his goals, both in sports and in his studies. He never gives up, even in difficult times. After a difficult period due to illness, Daen persevered even when things were not easy. His family and friends will tell you that Daen is always there for his loved ones. Moreover, he is a social person who loves making new friends and making new connections. Although skiing is an individual sport, Daen knows the importance of working together to achieve larger goals.

Daen’s dream is to earn a scholarship and study in America. By combining sports and studies, he hopes to develop in both areas. He wants to see how far his talent can take him, but is also aware that this will be challenging. Therefore, he also wants to prepare himself for life after his career in skiing.
