Sports: Basketball

Entry semester: Fall 2024

Laurens Jacz is 17 years old and lives in The Hague. In his younger years, he practiced multiple sports, such as soccer and hockey. However, these sports didn’t motivate him enough. After a friend introduced Laurens to basketball, he immediately knew that it was his sport. After much dedication and hard training, Laurens now plays at the national level for Leiden.

Laurens is very empathetic and cares deeply about the people around him. He can adapt well to various situations and can be both serious and full of humor. This versatility is also evident in his sport, as he can play different positions. Laurens is highly disciplined and handles feedback from his coaches effectively.

In America, Laurens aims to bring out the best in himself and become the best basketball player he can be. This is why he has the ambition to go to America, where basketball is much more prominent and competitive than in the Netherlands. To achieve his ambitions, Laurens will give his all, both on and off the court, and he will also encourage his teammates to do the same.
