Pom van Vessem – Men’s Tennis

In this article, we tell you more about student-athlete Pom van Vessem. In addition, at the bottom of this article you will find the video in which Pom tells more about himself.

    Sports: Men’s Tennis
    Entry semester: Fall 2026

This is Pom van Vessem, a 17-year-old athlete from the Netherlands, living in Breukelen. At the age of four, Pom started playing tennis, inspired by his father and brother. Although he also played soccer for a while, he soon found that tennis suited him better. What began as a fun hobby quickly grew into a serious passion.

What makes Pom special as a person is his ability to learn from his mistakes and his perseverance not to make the same mistake twice. Family and friends appreciate being able to turn to him because he truly listens and helps when needed.

What really sets Pom apart as an athlete is his team spirit and the enthusiasm with which he encourages and supports his teammates. His ability to learn on the court is strong; he translates mistakes directly into areas for improvement, making him a resilient player.

In the future, Pom hopes to continue developing in America not only as a tennis player, but also as a person. Pom would like to become a technical engineer or even design his own cars after college, although tennis will always play an important role in his life.

” In the USA I want to improve as a tennis player, but more importantly, I want to grow as a person. “
