Thom van Steijn – Men’s Volleyball

In this article we tell you more about student-athlete Thom van Steijn. In addition, at the bottom of this article you will find the video in which Thom tells more about himself.

Sports: Volleyball
Entry semester: Fall 2026

This is Thom van Steijn, an ambitious and hard-working volleyball player from the Netherlands. He grew up in Hillegom, together with his parents, brother and two cats. Since the age of six, sports have been an important part of his life. He started with soccer and at the age of fourteen he was invited by a friend to train with volleyball – from that moment on he was sold and has never let go of the sport.

Thom is an enthusiastic and inquisitive athlete, always looking for ways to improve himself. He is dedicated to his sport and fully committed to his team. His leaping ability, combined with his height, makes him a strong player at the net, where he makes an impact with both blocks and offensive points.

In America, Thom wants to play at the highest level possible while earning his degree. He sees this challenge as an opportunity to step out of his comfort zone, get to know himself better and develop as an athlete and person.

“I am very hard working and I am very dedicated.”

Thom van Steijn
