This month, we’re focusing on the College of the Canyons, a community college located in Santa Clarita, California. Known for its modern facilities and inspiring environment, this university is home to around 5,000 students. The College of the Canyons also offers ample sports opportunities. The Campus
The College of the Canyons campus boasts expansive green areas, modern classrooms and laboratories, as well as excellent facilities such as sports fields and fitness centers. Unlike many other universities, the dormitories are not located on campus here; however, student-athletes can live very close to the university. This makes commuting virtually a thing of the past.
The College of the Canyons campus is located very close to one of the most famous cities in the world, Los Angeles. In just a half-hour drive, you can reach the city. From museums and theaters to shopping centers and restaurants, as a student-athlete, you can make the most of your free time here. If you have time, you can even go star-spotting because Hollywood is also just around the corner from this school. Did you know that various films and series like The Incredible Hulk, NCIS, and The Office used the College of the Canyons for filming? How cool is that!
Sports
The College of the Canyons offers a range of sports teams for its students, including basketball, baseball, softball, track & field, soccer, and volleyball. These teams participate in competitions organized by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
Another sport offered is golf, and one of our own Slamstox golfers is actively involved here. Quinten Leverman made the transition to the College of the Canyons in the fall of 2023.
The Cougar Stadium is the main sports venue of the College of the Canyons. American football, soccer, and track & field competitions are held in the stadium, which can accommodate up to 7,500 fans. Additionally, the stadium also features a dedicated press box for media coverage.
Study
The College of the Canyons offers a wide range of academic programs. The university exclusively provides two-year programs, allowing students to earn an associate degree and then transfer to a four-year university. Some of the most popular studies include:
