    Vigo Borst – Men’s Basketball

In this article, we introduce you to student-athlete Vigo Borst. Below you will also find a video in which Vigo introduces himself.

    Sports: Basketball
    Entry semester: Fall 2026

Meet Vigo Borst, a dedicated and positive basketball player from The Hague, Netherlands. Vigo lives with his parents, his older brother and younger sister. At a young age he started freerunning, but soon found that he preferred a team sport. When he was 9 years old, he switched to basketball – a choice that changed his life. Inspired by his brother, and drawn to the dynamics of team sports, he has been fully committed to the game ever since.

Vigo has since played basketball at the highest level and is known as a quiet player with a sharp three-pointer. He does not let himself off the hook easily and remains calm even under pressure. His perseverance is impressive: when Vigo goes for something, he does not stop until he has succeeded. That makes him not only a strong individual player, but above all a real team player who makes others around him better.

What sets Vigo apart is his positive attitude. Whether things are good or bad, he always tries to see the best in situations and motivates his teammates to do the same. He will take that mentality with him to America, where he wants to develop both as a player and as a person. He wants to grow, improve his English, and get to know himself better – all combined with the game he loves most: basketball.

His dream in the U.S. is to play basketball at the highest level possible while building his academic future. Vigo is looking forward to meeting new people, challenging himself, and being part of a close-knit community on campus.

What he adds to a university? A calm and dedicated team player with a strong three-pointer, a positive attitude and the will to get better every day.

“When things go wrong on or off the court, I always look at things from the brightside.”
