Around & About by Willem van den Akker (Saint Leo University)

Year-round summer, palm trees, unlimited tennis shoes and number 1 in the country in Division 2? Yes, it’s possible. Slamstox student-athlete Willem van den Akker, who is now in his senior year at Saint Leo University, has it all.

After completing his VWO in the Netherlands and reaching the quarter finals of the national championship under 18, Willem left the Netherlands to continue his athletic and academic careers at Saint Leo University, Florida. After successful years both on and off the court he was elected team captain of the men’s tennis team in his junior year and has led the team to numerous victories since.

In this video, Willem not only takes you around the beautiful Saint Leo campus – he also made sure to include some videos that reveal the perks of studying in always-sunny Florida.
