Studying and playing sports in America: a dream for many, for Slambassador Manou Meulebeek it has been reality for almost two years. Although she began with a healthy dose of doubt, she now looks back on the best choice of her life. “Slamstox not only opened doors, they gave me the confidence that I could do this.”
The first step: honesty and trust
“When I first contacted Slamstox, I had one big dream, but also a thousand questions,” Manou says. “Is it even feasible? Where on earth do I start?”

I told my story and indicated that I was seriously considering going to America, but that I was still unsure. A flying start
From then on, the process accelerated. Where Manou thought it would take years, Slamstox showed that leaving in August, just five months later, was achievable.
Within a month I had a personal account in which all my data was conveniently collected. This included not only my school achievements, but also my athletic qualities and information about who I am as a person. This profile was actively shared with coaches from many different universities in America. In addition, Slamstox itself approached schools to increase my chances. By mid-May, there were already 48 universities interested in me, something I had never managed to do myself.
What I found particularly valuable was the guidance during contact with coaches. Slamstox gave me clear guidance: what questions to ask, what to look for and how to make a good choice. They also helped me think about an appropriate major (choice of study), something that is at least as important as the sport itself.
Within a month I had made my choice of university. From then on, a new journey began in which Slamstox completely unburdened me. They helped with collecting and completing all the necessary documents, such as NCAA registration, admission papers and other administrative requirements. They also arranged the translation of my school documents and guided me step by step with my visa application and health insurance etc.

Now, almost two years later, Manou still enjoys her American adventure every day. The doubts of those days have given way to gratitude and tremendous personal growth. Looking back on this process, I can say that Slamstox made the difference for me between an idea and reality.
