This is Luuk Boutkan, a 16-year-old athlete from the Netherlands, living in Wateringen. At the age of five, Luuk started athletics, inspired by his mother and by big names like Daphne Schippers. Since then, his love for speed, big races and chasing records has developed.
What makes Luuk special as a person is his perseverance and composure, even under pressure. He has a positive attitude, takes responsibility within a team and knows how to motivate others.
What really sets Luuk apart as an athlete is his combination of speed, endurance and tactical acumen. He trains extra where necessary, never gives up and believes that improving the team is as important as his own performance.
In the future, Luuk hopes to play at a high level in America and develop into a complete athlete both on and off the court. In the short term, Luuk wants to participate in international tournaments to measure himself against the world’s best young athletes. His ultimate dream? Olympic gold.
