Sports: Field Hockey
Entry semester: Fall 2027
This is Maren Engels, a 17-year-old field hockey player from Apeldoorn. Raised in a real field hockey family, she developed a deep passion for the sport at the age of seven. At age nine, she decided to become a goalkeeper. Maren began her field hockey career at AMCH Apeldoorn, where she still plays to this day.
What makes Maren special as a person is that she is very social and independent. She likes to learn new things and enjoys being with other people. Maren is also very helpful, as she likes to help other people out.
What really sets Maren apart as an athlete is her communication with her teammates and her mindset. Both at practices, and in races, Maren will give one hundred percent. She also enjoys learning new things. Maren is a true team player and also very motivated. Her strongest point is that she always attacks the ball confidently.
In America, Maren wants to continue to develop as a player and as a person. In addition, Maren hopes to make a lot of new friends in America. Later, Maren would like to become a pediatrician so she can make sick children better. She would also like to continue playing field hockey at a high level for as long as possible.
