Lotje was selected to join the Bemmel Women 1 team for the 2023-2024 season. Playing at the senior level, will allow her to get used to a more physical style of play, preparing her well for college. Before moving to the senior level, Lotje has played at some of the higher levels of Dutch youth hockey (Topklasse/Subtopklasse/Eerste Klasse), always being one of the leading players of her team. Even though Lotje could have played at a higher level as a youth player, she has always chosen to stay loyal to her team and friends, to achieve ambitious goals with them.
Lotje usually plays as a central defender. She has a very strong basic skill set (push, sweep, hit) and is able to use a variety of skills to give great passes from the back. She has the ability to play short and long passes, and knows when to use speed to run past the first pressing line to open up more space to create additional passing options. Due to her great vision and tactical awareness, Lotje is able to read the play and position herself for interceptions and strong defensive 2v1s and 1v1s. Lotje knows the importance of coaching from the back and uses her voice to set up her team defensively, but also encourages them with positive feedback.
Lotje is seen as a connecting player in her team on and off the field by her teammates and coaches. She understands the importance of a positive attitude and performing as a unit to win games.
Lotje is expected to graduate the highest level of Dutch high school (VWO) in June 2024. She will be taking the SAT and Duolingo in the Fall of 2023.
Lotje is looking forward to joining a positive and ambitious Field Hockey program in the Fall of 2024. If you are interested in more information about Lotje, please contact our field hockey specialist Marle, at firstname.lastname@example.org
