Tess Spaansen

Tess Spaansen currently plays in the Dutch Top Division, for Dinto as an outside hitter. She also plays beach volleyball at Beach team Den Haag, in the Top Division as a defender and blocker. 

Beach 

Tess started playing beach volleyball at the age of 12, at the RTC. She also got selected to join the Dutch Beach volleyball team two years ago, to train with them to improve even quicker. Since 2021, Tess has been playing in a beach volleyball competition every week during the Summer.

Tess mostly plays with the same teammate during tournaments, they both play as a blocker and defender during a match. Which makes Tess an allround player.  

One of her biggest strengths are her speed and height, which gives her the ability to both reach a ball quickly and set up a strong block. During the wind and various weather conditions in the Netherlands, Tess knows how to anticipate quickly if a situation changes. 

Indoor 

Tess started playing volleyball just at the age of 6. She already trained at the Regional Training Center (RTC) at the age of 12 and joined the first women’s team of Dinto as a fifteen year old girl. She is keeping improving her game real quick ever since. 

Tess is the connecting link of the team. She sees through the game, takes everyone in her stride and through her good constant passing and energizing defense, she is important to the team. With her placed serve and deep hit balls, she ensures a minimum error rate.

Of course, she realizes she would like to improve her speed in the run-up so she can also improve her takeoff to the ball and her height. 

Tess will always give everything for her team, she is looking for a close team environment and is looking forward to learning from her future teammates.

Academics 

Tess just graduated from high school, in the HAVO level, the second highest level of high school in the Netherlands. Tess is planning to take a gap year and will start as a Freshman in the Fall of 2024. She is mostly interested in majoring in studies related to French or physical therapy. However she is open to exploring multiple options.
