Sophie (2003) is a high level Dutch golf player who currently ranks 2148 on the WAGR and 968 on the EGR. She is a strong and hardworking athlete who is always looking to improve on herself. Sophie is looking to join a strong college golf program in the Fall of 2024.
Before Sophie started playing golf, she was active in Ice skating. At the age of 10 she got in touch with golf, switched careers and never looked back. After a few months of playing golf, she already played her first Dutch National Championship and got recruited to train with the Dutch youth selection. As you can tell, she had great potential. At the age of 13 she was one of the top players in the country in her age group.
Sophie is an extremely hard working athlete and she doesn’t get tired easily. She is physically strong and is working hard on that part of the game as well. Her biggest strengths are her drives and pitches. Because of her physical strength, she can hit the ball a long way from the tee. Her goal during colleges is to bring her game to a world level, play a lot of different courses, gain more experience and do the best she can for her team and school! After college she would love to play in Q-school for the LPGA tour.
When Sophie was 14, she was selected to play in the Dutch Girls U18 team and started to play more international tournaments. Think of the European team Championships, English Girls, British Girls, Dutch Junior Open and 4 nations cup. After that season, she developed an eating disorder. For the last 2,5 years she has been fighting to recover. Right now, she is doing better than ever and is getting back to her old level of playing! Before her eating disorder, Sophie ranked 18th on the EGR in her age group!
Below are some of Sophie’s best results:
4th Dutch Championship U15
5th Dutch Championship U21
8th Dutch Girls Matchplay Championship
7th Individual in the European Team Championship U18
4th Dutch Junior Open
10th English Girls U18
17th R&A British Girls
15th Grand Prix at Waterloo
Besides working hard on the course and working parttime in the catering industry, she is also working hard in the classroom. Her academics are almost just as important to her as her golf.
