Thijs van der Wal

Thijs started playing volleyball at the age of 10 at VC Spaarnestad. He currently plays for their highest boys team and the third men’s team, performing in the third division. As a result of his fast improvement Thijs has always played with better and older teammates, which makes him improving even faster. 

Besides training at his own club, Thijs also trains at the volleyball school of PDK Huizen once a week to train with other talented, ambitious players from his region. He also trains with a beach volleyball team during the Summer. 

Thijs is steady in passing and has some great hitting skills. He is the topscorer of his team. He also has a good game insight, which gives him the ability to read the game easily and anticipate real quick. There is definitely room for improvement, in terms of his approach, technical skills and physical elements.

During his time in college, Thijs wants to grow as a volleyball player overall and learn much from his future teammates.

Championships Topklasse and Hoofdklasse 

Thijs is currently in high school in the VWO level, the highest level of high school in the Netherlands. He expects to graduate in June 2024 and is mostly interested in majoring in exercise science, sport science or something related.
