10. University of Virginia, Virginia

Many American architects say that the University of Virginia  is “one of the best performances in the last 200 years”. Thomas Jefferson designed the buildings. His style of architecture is known for using octagonal shapes, red bricks and symmetrical wings around a central part. One of the best examples is the Rotunda. This stunning building which is part of the university also belongs to the UNESCO-world heritage.

9. Furman University, South Carolina

The iconic statue of the bell tower next to the lake is one of the many images on the campus which looks like one on a postal card at home. Furman University is full of magnificent buildings, a Japanese garden and a hectare of green around it. The university contains a big amount of photo opportunities throughout the whole campus.

8. Princeton University, New Jersey

The architecture of Princeton University is a composition of different styles. The oldest buildings are using the late medieval style (Gothic style). This style became the trademark of the university. Nowadays the architects have built the new buildings in a more modern style. Artworks from the 20th century have been spread throughout the campus, creating a special fusion of times.

7. University of Notre Dame, Indiana

The golden dome on top of the main building has become one of recognisable symbols of the University of Notre Dame. Rebuilt after a fire, the dome was covered with a 6-meter-tall statue of the virgin Mary to represent the Catholic identity of the university. Another highlight is the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.

The Sage Chapel of Cornell University could be described as the most beautiful chapel of all universities in America, with its beautiful ceiling, beautiful chandeliers and distinctive church windows.  However, you can find the beauty of the university everywhere on campus, such as the library and McGraw Tower.

5. University of Hawaï, Hawaii

The campus of the university sometimes has a rainbow above its head due to rainfall in the region. This rainbow provides beautiful images, especially if you combine it with the palm trees and the brightly coloured flowers on the campus. There is a private beach with a coral reef next to the campus. The university uses this coral reef for research.

4. Stanford University, California

Stanford University is one of the most prestigious universities in America and well-know for its beautiful campus. They built the university’s “crown jewel”, the Stanford Memorial Church, during the American Renaissance and colourful mosaics decorate the church very beautiful. Around the buildings, hectares of gardens with beautiful flowers and trees are a true pearl for the eye.

3. Bryn Mawr College, Pennsylvania

The university is generally seen as one of the most beautiful campuses in the US. Bryn Mawr College was one of the first universities to use the late medieval architectural style (Gothic). Since then, this architectural style has been adopted by many other universities throughout America (Princeton, number 8). The large campus has a duck pond and rows of trees. 2. University of Colorado Boulder, Colorado

At the foot of the Rocky Mountains lies the University of Colorado Boulder. Thanks to its location, the campus has incredible views in combination with facilities such as kilometre-long bike rides and walks in national parks. 1. Berry College, Georgia

Berry College is a private college for arts. It is without a doubt one of the most photogenic universities in the US. The combination of the Gothic buildings and the impressive 27,000 hectares of fields, forests, lakes and fountains makes it an attractive university. The university attracts many hikers and cyclists and has been used as a recording location for multiple movies.
