The process of becoming a student-athlete is complex. We advise and guide our student-athletes and their parents through out the complete process, to make sure they can fully develop themselves on an academic and athletic level in an international and competitive environment. We find it very important that you find a place that fits your wishes, ambitions and future goals. You can only choose one university and therefore you need to be sure to make the right decision. Personal contact is key in our process. The better we know you, the better we can advise you.

Our team consists of a group college sports fanatics, all with individual qualities and experience. The perfect combination to guide our student-athletes. We are extremely competitive and love working in teams.

Pedro Mol

After graduation from high school in the Netherlands, Pedro decided to start studying at Tilburg University. He soon found out that it was very difficult to combine his university studies with his tennis ambitions. After studying for a year in Tilburg, Pedro transferred to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where he continued his business degree while playing for the UNCW Men’s Tennis Team.

Pedro played for UNCW in the period of 2011-2014. With his team he was ranked top 35 in NCAA Division 1. In addition, he earned a bachelor’s degree in International Business and an MBA in Finance & Investments. During his MBA, Pedro lived and studied for half a year in Valencia, Spain. He also played tennis tournaments and club leagues at a national and international level.

In 2014, Pedro moved back to the Netherlands. Based on his knowledge, network and experience he founded Slamstox to help other student-athletes realize their dreams. Slamstox has grown to be much more than that and Pedro’s higher goal is to make sure that the term “student-athlete” is recognized worldwide.

In his spare time, Pedro plays tennis in the highest Dutch League (Eredivisie) for a club team named Lewabo. He enjoys traveling and prefers to be active and entrepreneurial. You can always wake him up for an exciting basketball game, a day of surfing or a big steak!

Kim van der Meulen

One of our first field hockey players. Played at UC Davis for 2 years and is our current field hockey specialist.

After playing at a local club for years, Kim transferred to Oranje Zwart (now Oranje Rood) in her senior year op highschool, where she was able to develop herself in the Dutch National League. When she decided to take on the American adventure after graduating high school in the last month of her senior year, Slamstox helped her talk to 11 different coaches and get mutliple full scholarship options in record time. After going through the process within three months, she started her adventure at University of California, Davis in the first division. Where she played field hockey and majored in Clinical Nutrition for two years, lived in an apartment with her teammates and flew to field hockey games with her teammates on the weekends. Right after returning to the Netherlands, she started as the Field Hockey Specialist. Kim now helpt ambitious players make that same dream come true.

Kim’s goal is to bring all girls a home away from home and an amazing experience at a college where they are sufficiently challenged and offered plenty of opportunities. Because of her personal experiences, connections with field hockeh coaches and players in the US and her personal guidance, she will provide all information girls need to decide which school they are going to attend and play for, and find the perfect match.

Besides her Slamstox activities, she is majoring in Computer Science and often found at the turf of hockeyclub HOD in the first womens team.

Onno Gras

After finishing his mbo degree, Onno started working for the company where he finished his degree. A gym in his hometown called Cardo. Here, Onno discovered his love and passion for sports.

Afterwards, Onno started a bachelor degree called SPECO Sports Communication at the Fontys in Tilburg. Onno was able to combine his love and passion for sports with a bachelor degree program that perfectly matched his wishes and needs. During his bachelor degree, Onno continued working at the gym giving multiple group lessons a week.

In his spare time Onno likes to be creative, this is where his passion for content creation comes from. Onno educated himself in using the creative programs of Adobe like Photoshop, InDesign and Premiere. Onno is able to apply this skillset directly at Slamstox to create cool content for our student-athletes.

Onno is a very sportive person with an unconditional love for urban and extreme sports. For example free running, skate boarding and inline skating are sports he liked to practice. You can wake Onno up to make a long steep slope with his snowboard!

Thijs Seijler

Golf specialist and After College manager for all student-athletes in America. Also a pretty decent basketball player!

After graduating from High School, Thijs started is bachelor degree in Sports and Movements education. At that point, Thijs played golf at a national and international level. His ultimate goal was to play golf professionally after his education. He quickly noticed that it was very hard to combine his studies with high level golf.

At the end of his bachelor degree, Thijs was introduced to Slamstox by his now colleague and teammate Rob van de Vin, to do his thesis research. For his thesis he researched if studying in the US as a student-athlete gives someone more chance at a job in the Netherlands than someone who is studying in the Netherlands because of the skills they develop. After finishing his thesis, Thijs started working at Slamstox as the Golf specialist and After College Manager.

Thijs still plays golf at a high level. Four years ago he became member at The Duke Club in Nistelrode where he started playing for the men’s golf team. Two years later they got promoted to the highest level of team competition in the Netherlands. Nowadays you will still see him shine at the National Championships and other big National tournaments.

Thijs’ his goal is to help the young talented golfers pursue their dream as a student-athlete and help the student-athletes who graduate find a job in the Netherlands that fits them perfectly. Also, Thijs is always ready for a match of Basketball, a round of golf and a nice cold glass of bear.

Iris Mol

Marketing and communications employee at Slamstox. Not afraid to compete in a tennis game as well!

After graduating from her mbo program in marketing and communications, Iris started a bachelor degree in commercial economics at the Fontys in Eindhoven. She is currently in her senior year and during her many internships and projects she discovered that helping and guiding people is one of her favourite things to do.

Originating from a true sports family and as the sister of 2 student-athletes, Iris knows how it is to combine sports and studies in America. That’s why she loves to help all motivated athletes at finding the best scholarships.

Besides school and work is traveling one of her passions, but she’s always in for a game of tennis!

Lorenzo Avanzi

Lorenzo is a Brazilian goal keeper with Italian roots. Played D1 soccer at USC Upstate. Soccer specialist at Slamstox.

Lorenzo Avanzi

Lorenzo is an Italian/Brazilian who lived in Brazil till the age of 15. Prior to that, he has always played high level football, but took school very seriously as well. Afterwards, he saw the opportunity to go to Massachusetts, US for High School to combine football with his studies, where he obtained his High School diploma. After graduating from High School in 2018, he played as a goalkeeper and studied at the University of South Carolina Upstate (NCAA DI) for a year. He was pursuing a degree in Business Administration.

Due to his European roots, Lorenzo went to Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in 2019 to start his International Business bachelor’s degree at Fontys Hogeschool. Based on his college knowledge, network, and experience, he thought that he could be a great addition to the Slamstox’s team in the football market, which he is currently working on. Slamstox is a great opportunity to help him develop his professional skills while assisting football players go to America.

In his spare time Lorenzo likes to go to the gym, hang out with friends, learn new languages and skills, travel around Europe, and of course, eat Croquette and Frikandels. In the next few years, he aims to graduate from International Business and possibly start a master’s degree.

After Marique finished her VWO degree, she was finally able to start the study she always wanted. SPECO sports marketing. Last year she managed to wrap up her first and second year in just one year. She is now super excited to start her internship at Slamstox!

Marique has played field hockey for Oranje Rood at the highest level until her 18th birthday. She is currently playing her second season at MOP in the  promotion division. Her goal is to step up and reach the prime division. As a real field hockey fan, Marique will continuously help girls to accomplish their dream to become student-athlete in America.

Besides field hockey and school is Marique a real fan of watching sports matches and documentaries. She also likes to cook healthy dishes and baked goods and photograph them.

Peter Lucassen

Peter Lucassen has a great network in the world of Tennis. He still has great contact with college tennis coaches which he can maintain well from his home in California. This network is a result of his own achievements in college tennis. During his college career Peter won the NCAA National Championships for the University of Southern California.

After his career as a tennis player he started his career as a succesfull tennis coach. Nowadays he has already won a lot of great awards as the coach of different professional tennisplayers. He also has his own tennis academie in Los Angeles.

Peter knows everything you need to know about the transfer from college tennis to professional tennis and the other way around. He is also able to support athletes from Slamstox in the US perfectly.

Ilya Kneppelhout

Played tennis and studied at Wagner College in NYC for 4 years. A real traveler and tennis specialist!

Ilya Kneppelhout

Ilya Kneppelhout – often completely mispronounced in the United States – left his small town Woubrugge at age 18 for New York City. In the Big Apple, Ilya played Division 1 college tennis from 2015-2019 at Wagner College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a minor in journalism.

While at Wagner College, Ilya started working for Slamstox as an intern, from his campus dorm room in the States, and continued as a Slamstox employee when he moved back to the Netherlands. He now lives and studies in Amsterdam, where he is enrolled in the Masters of Entrepreneurship program at the University of Amsterdam.

Ilya works to make a difference, and in his work at Slamstox he believes he can do that best. For him, the U.S. college experience not only improved his tennis and mental game, physicality and mental toughness, but also supplied him with a network of friends from all over the world and memories that will be with him for a lifetime, which he feels every good athlete should experience.

Besides being active as a young entrepreneur, Ilya loves to go on backpacking adventures, play Spikeball, and cook meals for his friends.

Bob Vanderham

Ran mid distance at UNCW for 4 years and became 2nd at NK seniors. Track & field specialist in Raleigh, NC.

When Bob van 10 years old he moved to the US. In 2008 he started his freshman year at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he was very succesfull in the Track and Field/Cross & Country team. He won the CAA Championships two times for the 800 meters. In the Netherlands he set 17th best time ever for the 800 meters.

Because of his outstanding results in the US and the Netherlands, Bob now has a great network of Track and Field coaches on the East coast of the US. Because of that, Slamstox athletes for Track and Field are really wanted there. Besides these achievements in college sports, Bob did not back down for his study either. He did a major in Business with a focus on Marketing and Finance.

After he played for years at a high level of Basketball in the Netherlands, Bryan left for Mississippi to combine Basketball with a study. Have you already seen the Netflix movie ‘Last Chance U’? De school where the movie was recorded is Eas Mississippi Community College. Bryan was scouted to play for this school with a full scholarship.

Because of his experience, he knows how to physically prepare student-athletes for college basketball and inform them about what the advantages would be of being a student-athlete. His time in the US gave him a great network of basketball players, coaches en universities. Because of this he can help young basketball players achieve their dream of becoming a student-athlete.
