This is Pom van Vessem, a 17-year-old athlete from the Netherlands, living in Breukelen. At the age of four, Pom started playing tennis, inspired by his father and brother. Although he also played soccer for a while, he soon found that tennis suited him better. What began as a fun hobby quickly grew into a serious passion.

What makes Pom special as a person is his ability to learn from his mistakes and his perseverance not to make the same mistake twice. Family and friends appreciate being able to turn to him because he truly listens and helps when needed.

What really sets Pom apart as an athlete is his team spirit and the enthusiasm with which he encourages and supports his teammates. His ability to learn on the court is strong; he translates mistakes directly into areas for improvement, making him a resilient player.

In the future, Pom hopes to continue developing in America not only as a tennis player, but also as a person. Pom would like to become a technical engineer or even design his own cars after college, although tennis will always play an important role in his life.

This is Tijn Dik, a 16-year-old athlete from the Netherlands, living in Amersfoort. At the age of four, Tijn started playing soccer and now has twelve years of experience in this sport. He started at CJVV, but because he was looking for more of a challenge, he switched to AFC Quick. Tijn got the chance to play at a higher level at IJsselmeervogels, where he currently enjoys playing.

What makes Tijn special as a person is his social nature. He connects easily and adapts quickly to his surroundings, which makes people feel comfortable with him quickly. He is also someone who is tremendously disciplined and determined to pursue his dreams.

What really sets Tijn apart as an athlete is his courage and commitment. As a goalkeeper, he is not afraid to put his body into battle and give everything to stop the ball. In addition, he has the confidence and insight to calmly start a build-up from behind.

In the future, Tijn hopes to become the first goalkeeper of a Division I team in America. His ultimate goal is to win a National Championship Title and eventually become a professional goalkeeper. In addition, Tijn wants to get his degree and build valuable friendships.

This is Nicolas Scheffer, a motivated athlete from the Netherlands and currently spending a gap year in Seville. His athletic journey began with tennis, field hockey and basketball, but during corona he discovered his passion for golf. Since then, he spends four hours training daily, five days a week and plays tournaments on weekends.

What makes Nicolas special as a person is his unique outlook on life. He is described as hardworking, caring, creative and social. At the age of 16 he made the move to Spain for his sports and studies which has brought him in contact with people from all over the world.

What really sets Nicolas apart as an athlete is his constant drive and ability to make others around him better. He is a complete player, but particularly excels at putting.

This is Samuel Donner, a 16-year-old athlete from the Netherlands, living in Zoetermeer. Before Samuel started playing baseball, Samuel did athletics and gymnastics. Everything changed when he was introduced to baseball through a friend at the age of 12. From the first moment he was sold. Since then he has been training hard, making great strides and playing at the highest youth level in the Netherlands.

What makes Samuel special as a person is his versatility and dedication, not only on the field but also off it. He is creative with music, plays the piano, sings in a band and also knows how to relax with friends.

What really sets Samuel apart as an athlete is his strong inner motivation. He always wants to be better than everyone around him. That obsession to grow causes him to go all out to improve himself.

This is Tijl Forger, an enthusiastic and driven tennis player from the Netherlands. He grew up in Soest with his parents and two older brothers. He started playing tennis at the age of five, but combined it with soccer until the age of ten. Eventually he decided to focus entirely on tennis, the sport he felt most passionate about.

Tijl is described by his friends and family as an adventurous and positive person, who inspires others to discover new things. On the tennis court, he always gives his all and enjoys intense matches where he has to go to the limit. He works hard for every point and does not let himself be easily beaten.

This is Bobbi Vos, a 15-year-old soccer player with a great passion for the sport. She was born in London, but grew up in Amsterdam, where soccer has always been an integral part of her life. Her father, a former Ajax player and now active as a soccer agent, instilled her love for the sport early on. At the age of six, Bobbi began playing soccer, first for fun, but soon at an increasingly high level.

Bobbi is a true team player and gets the most enjoyment from working together on the court. She works hard to continuously improve her game and strives to become a complete player. One of her greatest moments so far was winning the regional championship with the under 13.

What characterizes Bobbi is her positive attitude, empathy and ability to work well with others. She has a natural drive to pursue her goals and gets the best out of her teammates. Her style of play is characterized by many short passes and clever combinations, constantly moving to create spaces.

This is Can Yaglikici, a 17-year-old tennis player with an unusual background. Can was born in California, United States, and has both American and Turkish citizenship. His roots are in Turkey, where his parents are from. When he was 10 years old, the family moved to the Netherlands and Can has lived in Arnhem ever since. He is currently taking an international English curriculum at an IB school, which has given him a broad and international view of the world.

His athletic journey began at an early age. At age five, he started skiing and was even included in the school ski team in Turkey. Yet his true passion lay elsewhere. Tennis was in his family – both his parents and grandparents loved to be on the court. So it was a natural step for Can to pick up the racket himself. Since then, tennis has become a regular part of his life.

Can is a real go-getter. He challenges himself daily – not only on the field, but also in the gym – to develop himself further. His mentality is what sets him apart: he is competitive, disciplined and a real team player. In the Netherlands, he plays tournaments at both national and international level and competes in the first division. His style of play is aggressive, with a powerful serve.

His ambition for the future? In America, Can wants to take his tennis skills to the next level while also growing academically. His interest is in studying economics and finance. This is Lita van Weert, a 15-year-old athlete from the Netherlands, living in Sint Oedenrode. At the age of five, Lita started diving because of a video she saw. She did a trial lesson and liked it immediately, which made her decide to continue. Soon she started training several times a week and today she trains nine to 10 times a week.

What makes Lita special as a person is her social nature. She loves doing fun things with friends on weekends. In addition, Lita is active with babysitting small children, something she enjoys.

What really sets Lita apart as an athlete is her discipline and positivity. She is a hard worker who gives everything for her goals. In addition, she always stays positive during her workouts and tries to motivate her teammates through her energy and enthusiasm.

From age four to eight he played soccer and from age six to 15 he played field hockey. At the age of 15, Robert played golf for the first time, together with his father, to see if he liked it. And he did. At 16, he decided to focus more on golf, and since then his enthusiasm for the sport has only grown.

What makes Robert special as a person is his mentality. His perseverance and mentality set him apart from others and make him strong, both on and off the court.

This is Ingmar Schenau, a 17-year-old golfer from Amsterdam, where he lives with his parents and sister. Ingmar has loved sports from an early age. At the age of eight he participated in a selection for a soccer team, in which he managed to stand out among no less than 168 other players – he was admitted. Later, he also discovered basketball, where he trained under a former NBA player. That experience gave him extra motivation to work harder and get everything out of himself.

At the age of 14 he started playing golf and he loved it immediately. He biked six kilometers every day to go to the golf course and train. His dedication was rewarded: that same year he achieved 11th place at the Dutch National Championship. Since then, golf has been his biggest passion and he works on his development every day.

As a person, Ingmar is known as honest, positive and sociable. He values integrity and strong group dynamics. In a team, he provides balance, openness and a nice atmosphere. What makes him unique as an athlete is his perseverance. He keeps going where others give up and actually uses setbacks as fuel to train even harder. His mental strength and determination are characteristic of his approach – failure for him does not mean quitting, but getting even better.

His dream? In America, he wants to further develop himself as a golfer as well as a human being. His father watched Roger Federer a lot and enrolled Maarten for tennis lessons. At first he was not enthusiastic, but a year later he gave the sport another chance – and he has been in love with tennis ever since.

Maarten is a happy and positive person who always challenges himself to the max. He also enjoys helping others and derives satisfaction from working together. He is known as an aggressive player with a powerful forehand, strong serve and tactical insight. In addition, he is a fast learner and makes great strides in his development.

This is Teun Schukken, a dedicated tennis player from the Netherlands. Sports have always played an important role in his life. At the age of five, he started playing tennis while combining it with field hockey. A few years ago, he realized that tennis is the sport where his passion lies. Since then, he has increased his training hours and plays as often as possible to improve himself.

Teun is known as a hard worker with strong mental toughness. He remains calm under pressure, which helps him perform at crucial moments. This is evidenced by his impressive statistics: of the 21 tiebreaks he played, he managed to win 16 of them – a winning percentage of almost 75%. His greatest strength on court is his forehand, with which he manages to maintain control in long rallies and put pressure on his opponents.

Tennis runs in his family – his father is a tennis coach and his brother also plays tennis. Mats started playing tennis when he was four years old, inspired by his father who himself played tennis from an early age. Besides tennis, Mats played soccer and judo for several years, but a few years ago he decided to focus entirely on tennis.

Mats is an energetic and humorous boy. What makes him unique, however, is that he always stays true to himself and does not allow himself to be influenced by the opinions of others. This ensures that he remains genuine and authentic no matter the situation. On his team, Mats is seen as someone who is not only cheerful, but also stays focused, always with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. He turns every practice and game into an opportunity to improve the atmosphere and get the best out of himself and his teammates.

This is Savior Melfor, a 19-year-old basketball player from Voorburg, Netherlands. As a child, he was always active – he tried different sports such as soccer and judo, but there was one sport that stuck: basketball. His love for the game began when a friend of his mother’s asked if he would go with him to a practice sometime. After his mother took him to a practice, he never stopped playing basketball. From that first moment he was sold – basketball became his passion.

Savior is not only an athlete with talent, but also someone with an infectiously positive energy. He is sociable, connects easily and knows how to motivate those around him. Whether on the team or off, he creates a good atmosphere and brings a smile wherever he goes.

As an athlete, Savior stands out for his tremendous commitment and eagerness to learn. He works very hard to get better and, on the contrary, is inspired by players who are further ahead than him – this challenges him to work even harder. In addition, he takes responsibility for his own development. If something is not going well, he looks at himself first. No excuses, but growth.

Actually, his father hoped Johann would play basketball, but his coach at the time thought he was too young and small. Therefore, his father took him to his second favorite sport: tennis. What began as an alternative soon grew into Johann’s greatest passion.

In addition to tennis, Johann played other sports – from soccer to kickboxing and taekwondo. Yet tennis remained his great love. He is known for his cheerful energy and his drive to continuously improve. Johann is highly coachable and always open to feedback, something that makes him strong as an athlete and as a teammate. His team describes him as a serious athlete who at the same time always brings a smile and positive atmosphere.

What makes Johann unique as a player is his speed and agility. He can literally reach every corner of the court. He also possesses a powerful forehand with lots of spin and a solid backhand. Mentally, he is strong and focused, with a fighter’s mentality on the court. Currently, he is working hard to improve his serve to make his game even more complete.

His dream? To become the best version of himself in America – as a tennis player and as a human being. He wants to play as many matches as possible, grow as an athlete and develop within a study he is truly passionate about. Future plans he has not yet mapped out in detail – after all, he is only 16 years old – but he is sure he wants to make the most of this experience.

What Johann brings to America? An energetic and motivated player, a coachable person with a strong work mentality, but also someone who knows how to motivate others. Someone who is serious about his sport, but always brings positivity and team spirit.
